Calibration

To adjust the output or reading from a testing device to assure that it gives a correct answer; the adjustment is based on measurement of one or more known substances called standards (or calibrators).

Calibration is the adjustment of an instrument’s output so that it accurately represents the input value. To do this a known value is inputted into an instrument and the actual output is adjusted until it corresponds with the expected output.
