Factor VII deficiency is a blood clotting disorder that causes excessive or prolonged bleeding after injury or surgery. With factor VII deficiency, your body is not making enough factor VII or something is interfering with your factor VII, often another medical condition.

Factor VII deficiency symptoms?
Symptoms range from mild to severe, depending on your levels of usable factor VII. Mild symptoms may include:
- Bruising and soft tissue bleeding
- Longer bleeding time from dental injuries or extractions.
- Joint bleeding
- Nosebleeds
- Gum bleeding
- Heavy menstrual periods
In more severe cases, symptoms can include:
- Destruction of cartilage in the joints by episodes of bleeding
- Bleeding from the intestines, stomach, muscles, or head
- Excessive bleeding after delivery
Sample Required:
- The plasma is needed, take 5 ml of venous blood and add sodium citrate as the anticoagulant.
- Perform the assay immediately or as soon as possible.
- For factors II, V, VII, and X, place the citrated plasma on ice immediately, and the sample is stable for 2 hours.
- Freeze if it is delayed >2 hours.
